Los maestros sufís e islámicos jugaron un papel importante en esto, como sucedió en la región de Anatolia. Mevlana Jalal ad- Din Muhamad Rumi, fue un sabio espiritual nombrado de diferentes maneras: Mevlana, que significa erudito o gran maestro, y Rumi, que es el nombre que él adoptó en Konya, Turquía, son algunos de ellos. Su influencia crece y se diversifica con el paso del tiempo. Su obra es relevante, tanto para la cultura is- lámica en la región persa, como para la turca y para la comunidad sufí de todo el mundo; donde personas de distintas creencias le reconocen y leen. Poeta, erudito, teólogo, maestro y filósofo islámico de origen persa, nació en Vajl, actual Afganistán, en 1207.
