Tres Vidas fue reabierto, en 1995, tras el rediseño de
Robert von Hagge, quien se encargó de colocar sus tra-
dicionales e innumerables jorobas y unos fairways que
corren a lo largo del mar. Diez lagos e infinidad de tram-
pas de arena ofrecen al golfista el reto de colocar siem-
pre la pelota en el centro, sin titubeos.
Cinco hoyos colindan con el océano Pacífico, en este
largo campo que supera las 7200 yardas desde las tees de
Campeonato, con greens de pasto Tifdwarf y fairways
de Tifton 419, ideal para resistir el agua salada. Aquí es im-
prescindible el uso del carrito y del bronceador, para apro-
vechar la presencia del sol a lo largo de los 18 hoyos. Y
como anota Von Hagge: “el campo de golf Tres Vidas es
considerado como una de las perlas del golf mexicano. Tres
Vidas será el centro de atención, ya que cuenta con uno de
losmás impactantes ‘links courses’ de todo el continente”.
Entre los hoyos resalta el 3, un par 3 de 190 yardas,
cuya tee de salida apunta directo al mar, por lo que el tiro
debe ser rasante, con el maravilloso escenario de olas re-
ventando en pleno mar abierto. Por si fuera poco, cuenta
con seis trampas de arena, con agua a la entrada del green.
Un segundo hoyo, digno de admirarse, es el 9, un
largo par 4 donde se está a expensas de los caprichos

the challenge of always getting the ball down the
center, with no hesitancy.
On this long course, that measures over 7200
yards from the Championship tees, with Tifdwarf
greens and Tifton 419 fairways, ideal for with-
standing the salt water, five holes are on the
Pacific Ocean. A golf cart is an absolute necessi-
ty… along with suntan lotion, to take advantage
of the sun for the 18 holes.
An as von Hagge says: “ The Tres Vidas golf
course is considered to be one of the pearls of
Mexicangolf. TresVidaswill be the center of atten-
tion because it has one of the most impressive
‘links courses’ on the entire continent.”
The third hole, a 190-yard par 3, is one of the
most outstanding. Its starting tee points direct-
ly at the sea, so the shot has to be low. The set-
ting is marvelous, with the waves breaking in
