Fortunately, there are those who have seen the danger and have taken various actions to make the community, especially the fishermen, aware of the need and benefits of protecting this species. One of the institutions that have taken action in Mexico, specifically in the Caribbean, is the Saving Our Sharks Foundation, SOSF, which through the Isla Mujeres Shark Initiative has carried out training among fishermen, saving more than 20,000 sharks in the Mexican Caribbean, according to the fishing statistics of previous years carried out by SOSF, whose mission has been carried out with the collaboration of the local community, specifically with 28 fishermen, called Masters of the Seas, who are certified divers. El tiburón, considerado el gran depredador de los mares, tiene en el hombre su principal amenaza, lo que ha puesto en peligro su supervivencia. Afortunadamente, hay quienes viendo el riesgo han tomado diversas acciones al crear conciencia entre la comunidad, especialmente entre los pescadores, sobre la necesidad y beneficios de proteger a esta especie. Una de las instituciones que han tomado acción en México, específicamente en el Caribe es Saving Our Sharks Foundation, SOSF, que a través de Isla Mujeres Shark Iniciative ha raaealizado una labor de capacitación entre los pescadores y con ello han sido salvados más de 20 mil tiburones en el área del Caribe mexicano, reportan las estadísticas de pesca de años anteriores realizada por la SOSF, cuya misión ha sido con la colaboración de la comunidad local, específicamente con 28 pescadores –denominados Masters of the Seas–, quienes fueron certificados en buceo.
