·amura· 108 ¿Cuáles consideras que han sido tus mayores logros artísticos? Como decía Jorge Luis Borges: “El arte no es aquello que nos hace pensar que hemos descubierto algo nuevo, sino aquello que nos hace sentir que hemos recordado algo importante que habíamos olvida- do”. Y esto es a lo que me dedico con mi trabajo, a transmitirle a la gente un sentimiento profundo de felicidad o nostalgia, a causar un recuerdo en la persona que observa mi obra. Cuando puedo lograr esto me siento muy contenta. El mejor resultado es que recuerden una pieza mía tiempo después de haberla observado. Pienso que un logro ha sido poder desarrollar la habilidad de retratar a la gente en la calle, lo que llaman street photography , sin jamás crear un set; nunca he retocado la realidad, nadie ve las cosas del mismo modo que uno. Mis fotografías se han expuesto en la Bienal de Córdoba en Veracruz, en el Museo de Arte Moderno para la Fundación México Vivo, en el South Hamp- ton Art Fair, en la exposición Bijoux en el Museo Franz Mayer, en la Galería Abierta de las Rejas de Chapultepec, SIVAM, en varias ediciones de Zona Maco Arte Contemporáneo y más recientemente en la sección curada por Johann Mergenthaler en Maco Foto Solo. He realizado siete exposiciones individuales en distintas partes. Recientemente, mi serie ‘Boca Roca’ fue adquirida por el Hotel Casa Malca en Tulum para hacer una instalación especí- fica dentro de su colección de arte. ¿Qué tipo de cámaras y técnicas prefieres? Las cámaras que utilizo son análogas; mi favori- ta es una cámara de formato medio Contax y una Nikon F100 que me han acompañado a lo largo de mi trayectoria. What do you consider your greatest artistic achievements? As Jorge Luis Borges used to say: “Art is not what makes us feel like we have discovered some- thing new, but what makes us feel like we have remembered something important that we had forgotten.” And this is what I do in my work— I convey a deep feeling of happiness or nostal- gia to people; perhaps I awaken a memory in the person who observes my work. Whenever I can achieve this, I feel quite happy. The best out- come is when they remember one of my pieces some time after having first observed it. I think one of my achievements has been de- veloping the ability to photograph people on the street, what they call "street photography", without ever creating a set; I have never retouched reality, nobody ever sees things in the same way as you do. My photographs have been exhibited at the Cordoba Biennial in Veracruz, at the Museum of Modern Art for the México Vivo Foundation, at the South Hampton Art Fair, at the Bijoux exhibition at the Franz Mayer Museum, at the Open Gallery of the Fences of Chapultepec Forest, SIVAM, in several editions of Zona Maco Arte Contemporá- neo, and more recently, in the section curated by Johann Mergenthaler in Maco Foto Solo. I have made seven individual exhibitions in different locations.
