Does life surprise you with images or do you premeditate them? I have never allowed myself to plan anything. Life surprises me with images; that is what life is made of— flashes of curiosity, cultures, faces, emotions, so many different forms of the human being’s existence, the life of animals, of nature. And this is what I capture. I make a portrait of a person as well as an animal: in search of their souls. You must let life surprise you; this is the magic that photography gifts me with. Do you think there is a "democratization" of photographic art? If we understand by democratization the massive or popular diffusion of photographic art in con- temporary society, the answer is yes, and I am very happy about that, because art is for everyone. Is thereacommonthemebetweenyour collections? There is no common theme in my series. My artistic process is the same, only that it mani- fests itself in different ways. I almost do not plan my creation; I work every day wher- ever I am, hoping that fate will put things in their place. ¿La vida te sorprende con sus imágenes o tú las premeditas? Nunca me he permitido planear nada. La vida me sor- prende con imágenes; de eso está hecha la vida: de instantes de curiosidad, de culturas, de rostros, de emociones, de tantas distintas formas de la existen- cia del ser humano, de la vida de los animales, de la naturaleza. Y esto es lo que yo capto. Hago un retrato de una persona al igual que de un animal: buscando su alma. Debes dejar que la vida te sorprenda, ésta es la magia que me entrega la fotografía. ¿Crees que hay una “democratización” del arte fotográfico? Si entendemos por democratización la difusión ma- siva o popular del arte fotográfico en la sociedad contemporánea, la respuesta es sí, y me alegro mu- cho por eso, porque el arte es para todos. ¿Hay un hilo conductor entre tus colecciones? No hay un hilo conductor entre mis series. Mi pro- ceso artístico es el mismo, solamente que se ma- nifiesta en formas diferentes.
