El país tiene una trayectoria de 500 años de investigación y desarrollo científico-técnico que ha dado sus frutos en diversos ámbitos, como las brillantes contribuciones de los premios Nobel Niels Bohr (1885- 1962) a la física atómica y Niels Finsen (1860-1904) a la investigación médica. Lo mismo sucede en el desarrollo de tecnologías limpias, biotecnología, bioingeniería, la investigación de enzimas, del sistema nervioso central y el cáncer. En cuanto a la industria farmacéutica, se debe destacar su contribución al descubrimiento y a la producción de insulina. Dinamarca ha sido acreedora del primer puesto en el Índice de Desa- rrollo de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación. Ha creado la primera embajada tecnológica del mundo, cuyo marco de atención es el universo digital, para mediar entre el país y las grandes empresas del ciberespacio y desarrolladores como Google, Facebook, Apple y Alibaba, Silicon Valley o Shenzhen y, hasta con los gobiernos: una acción que se justifica sobradamente en esta era en la cual impera una verdadera “di- plomacia digital”. It has created the first technological embassy in the world, which framework is the digital universe, to serve as mediator between the country and the big cyberspace companies and developers such as Google, Facebook, Ap- plen Alibaba, Silicon Valley or Shenzhen, and even with other govern- ments—an action that is amply justified in this era in which a true “digital diplomacy” reigns.
