players must be cautious with their drive because, if
the ball lands near a water hazard, they must not get
too close because some of the caimans, resting placidly
in their territory, might get scared. Do not worry, those
who get to a certain size are regularly sent to “La
Laguna del Cocodrilario” in Playa Linda, north of
Ixtapa, were they become attractions.
How to play
Hole 4, par 5: The green is in front of the lagoon and
surrounded by sand traps, so a very precise second
drive is needed. A miscalculated shot will land the
ball in a caiman-inhabited lagoon.
Holes 5 and 6, par 4 and 3: Surrounded by a lake
and the jungle. A very precise drive is needed.
Hole 15, par 4: A relatively short, 350-yard hole. A
200-yard opening shot is needed to pass the lagoon
that opens onto the Pacific. The second shot towards
the green, generally executed with a short 9 iron,
must be accurate to avoid the beach and the sea that
lie to the left. The view from this hole is spectacular as
one can admire Ixtapa Bay, the hotel area and the
white sands of Playa del Palmar.
Hole 16, par 3: With a lake running alongside it, it
is spectacular from tee to green. The green is sur-
rounded by water on one side and by sand on the
other. Optimum precision is required.
There are lockers and showers, a restaurant-bar,
liy up practice field, two putting greens—one illumi-
nated —, five professional tennis courts, two paddle
courts, Pro-shop and a swimming pool with a

So the next time you are in Ixtapa get your clubs
and look around the course before each stroke… just
be careful of hitting a ball into the water!

acercarse mucho, debido a que algunos caimanes habi-
tan ahí y pueden espantarse, porque descansan plácida-
mente en su hábitat. Pero no se preocupen,
regularmente los que alcanzan cierta talla son enviados
a “La Laguna del Cocodrilario”, en Playa Linda, al norte de
Ixtapa, donde se convierten en la atracción.
Cómo jugarlo
Hoyo 4, par 5: El green está de frente a la laguna y rodea-
do de trampas de arena, por lo tanto necesita un segundo
drive muy preciso para llegar. Un tiro desviado aterrizará
la pelota en un lago habitado por caimanes.
Hoyos 5 y 6, pares 4 y 3: Están rodeados por un lago
y la selva. Se necesita un drive muy preciso.
Hoyo 15, par 4: Relativamente corto, con 350 yar-
das. Se necesita un golpe de salida de 200 yardas para
pasar la laguna que desemboca en el Pacífico. El segun-
do tiro al green, generalmente con un fierro 9 corto, de-
be ser acertado para evitar la playa y el océano que se
encuentra por el lado izquierdo. La vista desde este ho-
yo es espléndida, ya que se puede admirar la Bahía de Ix-
tapa y la zona hotelera con la blanca arena de Playa del
Palmar.
Hoyo 16, par 3: Espectacular desde el tee al green. A
lo largo de este hoyo corre un lago. El green está rodea-
do de agua por un lado y de arena por el otro. Se requie-
re de óptima precisión.
Dentro del campo de golf el golfista podrá encontrar
los servicios de lockers y regaderas, restaurante-bar,
mesa de práctica alumbrada, dos putting greens –uno
iluminado–, cinco canchas profesionales de tenis, dos
de paddle, Pro-shop y alberca con palapa.
Así que busque sus bastones la próxima vez que es-
té en Ixtapa y admire el campo antes de cada golpe... Pe-
ro, ¡cuidado con irse al agua!
