Featuring a modern bow and whaleback
sheer, Como’s exterior design by Dubois Naval
Architects reflects the owner’s very specific
ideas. The yacht has unprecedentedly large win-
dows in the hull and there is a great deal of glass
in the superstructure: the latter is placed on top
of the metal rather than being set into it, creat-
ing a continuous glass surface. These glazed side
panels give spectacular uninterrupted views
from the owner’s stateroom.
Being a car importer and racing car driver, Mr
Crichton’s love of sporty designs manifests itself in
features such as the tumblehome in the superstruc-
ture and the angle in the wall of the superstructure,
generating a streamlined cockpit look reminiscent
of a racing car.
Al exhibir un arco moderno y un auténtico casco
curvado (whaleback), el diseño exterior del Como rea-
lizado por Dubois Naval Architects refleja las ideas muy
específicas del dueño. El yate luce enormes ventanas
en el casco que no tienen precedente y la superestruc-
tura posee una gran cantidad de vidrio: este último está
puesto sobre el metal más que puesto dentro del mis-
mo, creando una superficie continua de vidrio. Estos
paneles laterales cristalizados ofrecen una vista espec-
tacular ininterrumpida desde el camarote del dueño.
Siendo un importador de coches y un conductor de
autos de carreras, el amor del Sr. Crichton por los dise-
ños deportivos semanifiesta en detalles como el ángulo
en los extremos de la superestructura y el ángulo en la
pared, generando un puente de mando estilizado que
recuerda un auto de carreras.
