This past Saturday, 27th of February, the most highly transcendent tennis event in Latin America, the 23rd edition of the Mexican Telcel Open—which, for the past few days, had fans reeling alongside internationally renowned tennis players—concluded in spectacular fashion as players gave their all in unforgettable matches.

In the male player branch, Dominic Thiem surprised above all by beating Bernard Tomic and earning his first ATP 500 title, becoming as well the new champion of the Open. Meanwhile, in the female player branch, Sloane Stephens crowned herself as the champion, beating Dominika Cibulkova in a match that lasted over three hours.

From the 22nd to the 27th of February, Telcel, alongside its corporate ally, Samsung, set up rest areas where guests could enjoy the latest in innovations and technology at their disposal. Television screens projected highlights of the event while guests interacted with Samsung’s latest devices, all which are supported by Telcel 4GLTE, the most advanced network that continues to extend throughout the Mexican territory, and which currently reaches over fourteen thousand locations.

As part of its community outreach program, WWF-Telcel organized and supervised the release of ridley sea turtles. This moving moment was witnessed by over 300 guests; an event that was sealed by a spectacular sunset on the beaches facing the Princes Imperial World Hotel.

In addition, Mexican doubles tennis player Santiago Gonzalez convened that past Friday with corporate clients from Telcel in a celebratory breakfast, and signed autographs for fans in an intimate gathering.

Telcel is an enterprise that continues to be, for the twelfth year in a row, a driving force and an active promoter of sports in Mexico; attested by the success of this important event.
