To turn into an expert in the whisky elaboration it is necessary to have many years of training and experience, this is the case of Tom Smith named Brand Ambassador of Diageo for the Scotch whisky brands of this firm and who tells us about the characteristics of three of its products.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label

Johnnie Walker Blue Label has won siete prestigious gold medals in the last 10 years due to its excellence. It is considered the best and finest whisky in the world. A combination of rare whiskies obtained from the most fine and old reserves of the Walker House of Scotland, along with the skills of the best blenders make of Blue Label a whisky that stands out for its excellence and refinement.

Its powerful and deep flavor shows the experience there is in the art of the blend that life itself gives it, the whiskies which make it are obtained from barrels carefully selected from the oldest and most rare reserves of the Walker House. Each bottle is individually numbered to guarantee the singularity of the finest whisky in the world.

Blue Label has a strong character and the complex favor gives it a mature blend of the XXth century. It is a distinguished whisky, of a velvety flavor when it enters in contact with the palate, to trigger on later a hazelnut flavor explosion, rose petals and sherry, at the same time that they intertwine with the secret flavors of smoked notes of sandalwood, tobacco and chocolate. It attracts the attention that this effect is achieved with a blend of only 15 whiskies. It is an exclusive blend just for a connoisseur and experimented palate.

In 1920, John Walker was interested in improving significantly the weaknesses that existed in the quality of the Scotch whisky, because of it he dedicated to mix whiskies of high standards to create beverages with a consistent flavor, great depth and refinement. To grant more exclusivity to his blends, he signed each bottle to guarantee the excellence of the brand. This was how he founded a dynasty that would expand throughout the whole world.

Tom studied Industrial Engineering, worked in the bottling plant for 12 years, it was there where he gained experience and knowledge about the process. Later on he took the place of Manager of Malt Quality, where he was responsible of keeping the high quality and consistency standards of each blend.

During his career, he worked to create “The Walker House of Blends”, a name well known for its quality and flavor, which gave as a result an incredible collection of blended whiskies derivate from those that have been a favorite for special occasions, and the most rare, old and expensive whiskies of the world. In June of 2000, was named ambassador of the brand.
