Innovation and confort traditition

Nowadays, manufacturing cars have incorporated innovations that make faster, more efficient, and ultimately, more comfortable for the owner the experience of driving.

This month, we present you three specimens belonging to different strains, but all had the same prestige. The Porsche 918 Spyder supercar, is the first hybrid powertrain of the German firm, integrating technology that saves fuel in a comfortable ride or get all the power that characterizes speed Porsche, as well as the “regenerative braking”.

BMW is not far behind, and introduces the 535iA Gran Turismo, which offers comfort to its occupants through a more optimum distribution for long trips, and greater stability and outstanding handling, even with the increase in vehicle weight. BMW has a new concept that ranges from classic sedan and an SUV. In the other hand, the Audi Quattro Coupé Concept is the latest member of the lineage of the Quattro, which adds details to the classic bold look of this car to add the concept coupé to its lineup and its operation in general. It also has the FSI direct injection system, making it cleaner and more efficient fuel consumption.

Porsche 918 Spyder

Porsche, being firm dedicated to the craft of producing extraordinary automobiles, the first super-sport vehicle with hybid engines could not be anything but outstanding. It incorporates a V8 super-charged engine, which is located at the center of the chassis for an optimal weight distribution. Complemented by 500hp provided the V8, we also find two electric engines, one per axis, that send an additional 218hp to the four wheels. These engines are fed by a battery pack, similar to the ones used by laptop computers, that receive a charge by inversing the electric motors when breaking, forcing them to act as generators. This system, called “regenerative breaking” complements the excellent carbon-ceramic breaks; although one can also electric charge them via a common home outlet.
It features four modes of functionality, adjustable by way of a selector on the steering wheel, allowing for great versatility: The “E-Drive” makes it function electronically for up to 25 km on road. The “Hybrid” position utilizes both propulsion systems in an ample range that goes from absolute economy, up to impressive acceleration; depending on the use of the accelerator. The “Sport Hybrid” mode favours a sportier driving experience by sending more power unto the rear wheels. The “Race Hybrid” position offers maximum performance for a racing-car experience.
Occupants will find comfort and an ergonomic design, in a manner that the controllers and indicators are always at hands reach. The seats provide excellent support, commodity, and firm driving sensation. To control the advanced functions the car features a touch-screen panel, on the central console, which reduces the number of individual controllers.

BMW 535iA Gran Turismo

The new Series 5 Gran Turismo is a five-door hatchback that retakes the spirit of the great European continental cruisers, which were capable of covering long distances at high speeds, pampering its occupants without reservations.
The GT is taller than the sedan, which consequently allows a more vertical seating position; even more so, the posterior part of the cabin offers the same space for passengers as the enormous Series 7 sedan, which speaks well of the advantage taken with greater dimensional spaces. Logically, weight did increase, and in this case it surpasses the two ton mark; which makes it difficult to achieve the superb control that characterizes all BMW’s, but the firm has won experience making these true leviathans driveable, as with the X5M and the X6M, making the 535iA Gran Tursimo Driving experience a surprising one.
The cabin is a masterpiece of quality and good taste, all technological features apart. The new version of the iDrive interface is simpler to use now, and features quick navigational controllers. It comes with a fully equipped audio system that includes an 80 GB hard-drive as well as other amenities: CD as well as complete compatibility with the iPod, which shows all the information, in color, on the central console.
This new variant from BMW blurs the line between a sedan and an SUV, and does not pretend to be made for all; nevertheless, it shines in the classic dominions of the Bavarian firm, but with a sense towards an ideal commodity for long expedition.

Audi quattro Coupé Concept

30 years ago, Audi introduced the original quattro, the car that helped change forever the philosophy of such powers rally competitions. This sleek coupé is much more than an update of the original idea, as it adopted sporty details derived from the current generation of WRC rally cars, with compact dimensions and muscular look. A front large trapezoidal grille retains the signature, but it has more defined shapes and sharp angles that make up a more aggressive and outgoing.

The body is made entirely of aluminum, which works to get very serious dynamic performance, such as reaching 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds, of course, is the result of five-cylinder turbocharged engine of 2.5 liters of displacement, the same used in the TTRs, but carried up to 408 horsepower.

The interior is minimalist and clean, the board seems to float above the center console and the electro-digital instrument panel is simple and organized, with all essential information against the driver, so perfectly functional. The surfaces are covered with carbon fiber and soft skin, like the seats, which are also ultra light, safety harness with four points for both occupants. The space for the rear seat is now an area for luggage.
Audi Coupé quattro Concept is extremely economical and clean thanks to the FSI direct injection technology, that many victories gave Audi at endurance events, like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
