International Tourism Exhibition of the Americas (FITA), was held from 23 to 26 September 2010 in Mexico City, an event designed to promote Mexican tourism worldwide.
By its Spanish acronym, FITA 2010 (International Tourism Exhibition of the Americas) was held in the Convention and Exhibition Center Expo Bancomer Santa Fe. Here met industry professionals to boost tourism marketing and promotion of products and destinations to generate investments and prosperous business.
FITA 2010 was the stage for whole sellers, tour operators, transport companies, hotels, event planners, official tourist organizations, travel agencies, convention bureaus and visitors met to expand their business vision in this sector to find a common benefit. It was attended by 55 countries, more than 2.000 national and international buyers and 3.000 exhibitors for more than 25,000 business appointments.
Thanks to this travel fair, it was possible the institutionalization of FITA CONGRESS, which is a specialized business rounds in the tourism sector to create friendly ties and trades in order to facilitate successful negotiations.
For some of the activities of FITA 2010, was installed a hall of media, press area and an auditorium for seminars and conferences where presentations were conducted in countries such as Alaska, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, United States and national institutions. Also companies like Copa Airlines, Bancomer, Consolid Travel, Turespacio, RGM Global, American Express, Embratur and Presidente Intercontinental, among others, to offer their services and raise awareness of business offers to exhibitors and visitors from FITA 2010.
One day before the opening of FITA, poured a cocktail reception for participants in the Chapultepec Lake restaurant so they could meet and begin fraternal bounds. Since the launch, the mayor of Mexico City, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón, and the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Alejandro Rojas Díaz, gave a brief but emotional speech to proceed with the ribbon cutting. In the end, the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City led the closing in company of personalities in the tourism sector, artistic, cultural and sports in the country.
Over four days, exhibitors and visitors enjoyed an excellent event in which there were tastings, regional exhibitions, traditional dances and historical representations. It also opened a dining hall where there was recognition of outstanding chefs and sommeliers such as Patricia Quintana and Peter Procelis.
We very much mind about FITA 2011, it will probably exceed our expectations and delight us with another well-organized exhibition to promote the commercial development of Mexican tourism and global outreach.
