Los Cabos has become a great tourist destination with big hotels and golf courses, thanks to the Sportfishing of the Marlin and thru the years Cabo San Lucas has converted into the world capital of the Marlin.
In Fact, the fame that Los Cabos has as a touristic destination it because of the North American fisherman like John Wayne, Clark Gable, and Bing Crosby, who helped promote that abundant marine life.
The Marlin is not the only fish you can catch in Cabo San Lucas. The currents with a high content of plankton and other nutrients of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes merged right in Los Cabos originating a magnificent food chain which on top are the magnificent mammals, which emigrate each year from Alaska in pursuit of warmer waters and plenty of food.
Just in the middle we can find a great variety of fishes in different sizes shapes and colors. Like the Halibut, Yellow Fin Tuna and Peto which are precisly the most wanted species for Sportfishing in Los Cabos.
Host of Fishing Tournaments
Each year en October and November, Los Cabos is the host of the most important Sportfishing tournaments in the world, events that you shouldn’t miss even if you are not professional.
Here you will find the biggest and better equipped charter fleet in Latin America separated in three Marinas: Cabo San Lucas Marina, Palmilla and La Playa in San Jose del Cabo. Another way of enjoying a day of fishing cheaper are the local “pangas”, or fishing in the waves, which always is a good opportunity to catch a trophy.
The coordinator of the Bisbee’s tournaments, Clicerio Mercado Hernandez made public the arrangements for the first tournament of the season in the Cabo Del Este Zone (28 of July thru Aug. 1st) which contemplated a prize bag of almost 300,000 dollars to give away between the 54 participants. Each team had six fishermen on board.
This Event which takes place annually means thousands of tourists which they left a huge economic spill in the zone from los Cabos to La Paz. This tournament took place in Buena Vista Town in the hotel Buena Vista Beach & Resort.
He appointed that the tournament of tournaments, the most important of the world for its prize bag the “Bisbee’s” Cabo San Lucas 2009, was scheduled for October 20th thru 24th, with a series of different encounters before it to gather 200 teams and guarantee a prize bag of 4.6 million dollars setting a new record in this sport.
This event will receive boats from many countries, like England, New Zealand, Russia, Japan, from all the Unite States and Mexico. In this event will participate Boats Valued between 20 and 30 million dollar which come here to fish.
