The motivation of sustainability

Luxury and environment, the perfect combination that inspired designers Simone Madella and Lorenzo Berselli, to create a yacht built with bamboo, which was used for in the fabrication of the hull. To achieve their objective, a special resin from this plant was made, used to create a substitution for the traditional glass fiber applied in conventional embarkations.

By using this raw material which creates a harmony in its design, amongst other aspects, a benefit from the interior acoustic is obtained in such a way; it reduces the exterior noise caused by the waves. On the other hand, the machine room is equipped with electric motors, besides owning a special halite cover; this mineral is used for heat absorbency of up to a 15% of the room temperature, which converts into electric energy used for the advantage of the yacht.

This Project emerged when the designers, Italian students for the European Design Institute, reflected don the possibility to make an eco friendly embarkation. The Cronos yacht received a special mention in the “Young Professionals” category during the 2012 Millennium Yacht Design Award (MYDA) edition.

With the length of 32 meters, Cronos constitutes of two floors communicated between them by a flown staircase. Also, if navigated in a zone with vast solar light during the day, its central dome allows the entrance of sunrays, in such a way it gives a more close approach of nature, giving a more comfortable sensation to the guests.

Its design, of minimalistic cut, privileges open spaces which are ideal to expose a gallery in the cabins, which have a superb view of the ocean. Just as other yachts, Cronos offers a space for the beach at the back of the boat that allows maximum enjoyment.

Cronos has wooden furniture, a wide living area, and ultra modern design which stands out for its natural illumination.

Sustainability

This yacht also contains several amicable characteristics toward the environment, amongst them two crystal solar panels located on the roof, as well as a wind belt that allows the application of solar and eolian energy, which feeds two electric engines.  For this purpose it unfolds from its hull a sail that can impulse the vessel. It also counts with a system harped shaped, when hit by the wind, they generate from ten to thirty times more energy in an efficient way than a

conventional turbine.

All the smooth lines and textures of the body make Cronos fusion with the seam which searches for a place amongst the super yachts.
