Back to the 50’s
The exterior of the 51’Dolphin created by Mochi Craft is a charming memory of yesteryear. Her graceful profile reinterpret the natural shapes of the Maine lobster boats from the 1950’s, reproduced in a soft and harmonious hull, which to a certain extent evokes a dolphin’s shape. The style and shape of these old fishing vessels is wisely combined with the most up-to-date Italian design, creating a unique blend of strong character and refined beauty. Thus light-colored upholstery alternates with the color of wood, creating a warm and modern atmosphere for guests. On board, the guests are surrounded by that age-old mystical atmosphere of respect for the sea, and by a constant enjoyment of water and sun. The radical choice of wood covering every part of the boat, her soft shape, all this combines to create the style and personality of the 51’Dolphin.
The magnificent Italian interior design of the 51-foot Dolphin, succeeds in giving maximum value to space, offering comfort typical of much larger boats. This applies, for example, to the two wide sundecks, one fixed to the bow and one retractable on the stern, enough for six people to soak in the sun. The cockpit includes a practical folding table with 4 chairs, stowed behind the cockpit locker equipped with grill, sink and bar fridge. The rear main deck is directly connected to the saloon by an up-and-over window and a sliding door, which if left open, transform the main deck into one large open space.
The 51’Dolphin is equipped with a 4-horse power tender, perfectly stowed in the stern. Inside, the warmth of the wood merges with the precious tones of the sofa leather, which along with the light fabric of the roof are the predominant materials of the dining area. An expandable dining table and corner leather sofa are the focal points of the saloon. In the starboard side of the hall, a console contains storage shelves and drawers and a state of the art entertainment center. The full kitchen is partially hidden from the living room by a step-down. Completely furnished with a large counter top, the kitchen also echoes the boat’s atmosphere with a 50’s style silver-plated fridge. Before going down the stairs leading into the sleeping area we come across the helm station. A double chair with hydraulic comfort controls is particularly useful for maneuvering and mooring. Here a sliding roof transforms the 51’Dolphin into a practical convertible.
Below deck, there are two double cabins for guests, and a separate cabin for one crew-member with private bathroom. The master cabin has teak walls and flooring and inlaid English-style furniture. The light-colored upholstery sets off the wood of the doors and closets. A plasma TV, an elegant reading lamp add to the comfort. There is direct access to a private full bath. The chromed accessories once again recall the 50’s style, particularly in the retro shape of the washbasin, the star-shaped faucet and the towel rings. The guest cabin has twin beds separated by a small chest of drawers with a large mirror above. It has direct access to its own bathroom, in the same style as the master cabin bathroom. The height of the cabins and spacious rooms make medium-length cruises a real pleasure with comforts that mariners from the fifties could only dream about.
