A water and time ruler
The demand and insight of an experienced regattist carried out the concretion of a high performance and exceptionally designed sailboat, when he entrusted it to the successful combine Dubois Naval Architects and Alloy Yachts; in order to create a yacht capable to sail around the world.
This 52 m cruise, which functions as a sloop, is the 24th sail yacht and the 4th with more than 50 m length, built by Alloy Yachts, the New Zealander yacht manufacturer.
The Red Dragon’s main deck shows a continuous view of all the way to the helm, from the stern cabin through the hall-bar-diner, with the main position located on the top deck.
Her details and internal structure mark a milestone in the creation of these sail yachts, besides opening new horizons in the segment. The design was kept within boundaries that allow her to cross the Panama Canal the same as the Suez Canal, but still being large enough to cover more than 300 miles a day at sea.
She also has enough tank capability to cross nonstop the Pacific Ocean; a paramount feature which allows a great flexibility for the planning out of the crew
Her contemporary style, shows an arc near the plummet, a subtle slope, and an extended stern deck behind a posh mirror, descending just over the waterline. The ceiling extends over a long cantilever, virtually floating with no support on the cabin. The hull ends up in a charcoal gray-snow white superstructure. One hold in flashy red offers a gorgeous contrast with the dark hull. There, written in Chinese characters, stands the name of the vessel out, Red Dragon.
The interior design by Wilmotte & Associates is a perfect complement to the outer style, with its simple lines and subtle details; it is light and contemporary, moreover, it expresses the owner’s passion for art and design. The ambience created is tranquil, relaxed and elegant.
The colors are sober and, mixed up with the light coming in from the large surrounding windows, attain an enormous sensation of space. This effect is reinforced by the impression that most of the furniture is hovering over the space, detached from the floor, and that the walls pour light through hidden nooks below and around the cabinets and closets.
Red Dragon has a large open hall with perfect lighting, the same as an ample bar. In regard to lodging, she has room for up to ten people in four cabins, a main suite, two double cabins and a two bed cabin included; and a gym that might be transformed into a fifth guest cabin.
Magnificently conserved by her current captain and engineer, who has been on board since her time of construction, starting March, 2006 –to be delivered in March, 2008—Red Dragon has been profusely enhanced; such fittings include a new set of Doyle ICE sails for the current season. She is ready for sailing and after a substantial price reduction, she has got a competitive value of €17.950.000. This, no doubt, represents the best quality/price rate in the great sail yachts market.
