Tireless scientific

With the colors of the night in which Galileo Galilei observed the stars through his telescope, Galileo G Picchiotti sails the northern seas, ready for the conditions of navigation during the winter. White and black tones are enough to decorate a ship with straight, solemn lines, appropriate to challenge the extreme temperatures of the season.

As the exceptional scientific that she was named after: Galileo Galilei, this boat is no less than that, exceptional. With her 55 meters of length it turns to be the biggest (in length) of the Vitruvius series built so far. She has the “Ice Class Explorer” class, which puts her on a unique position with a lot of redundancies and tests to ensure she is ready for the most extreme cold climate.

As that, she has to comply with a mandatory denomination called “Winterization” which certifies she can navigate at zones characterized for very low temperatures.

To make its travels without complications, is equipped with the latest naval technology that allows you to select the best routes through ice formations and provide internal heat to keep the machinery in optimal conditions within any environment.

In addition she had to pass trough a redesign and reinforcement on the hull, specially the bow. She has also grown on engine power giving her the ability to navigate in the geo-climate characteristics. The equipment on-board it’s just as impressive as it is on the exterior allowing this yacht to navigate even in the toughest conditions, in example: systems to maintain water at a 5°c minimum for engines as well as for watermakers, anti-fog system; heat exchangers and a very cleaver system to control humidity at will all around the boat.

Unfortunately, the owner decided not to share internal images or layouts but, based on sistership of Galileo G (the multiawarded EXUMA) we can assume several aspects such as material quality, functionality and the beauty of finishes. I’m confident that Picchiotti (Perini Navi) gave its best with the interior design as well as with the exterior design. Phillipe Briand used his genius to bring to life this beautiful and powerful yacht.

However, exterior images are available, and without a doubt, she is no less than spectacularly elegant, contrast among three predominant colors: blue for the hull; white for the stripes that cover the low part of the hull which is also the color of the rest of the structural elements as well as communications; last the unmistakable color of teak all throughout the deck. All of this complimented with the chromed elements that are constantly in contact with mechanisms like anchors and fittings.

“And yet it moves,” responded Galileo Galilei to the censorship that was promoted against his support for the heliocentric theory, after his trial was forced to recant his ideas and confined to his house in Florence, Italy. Today the Earth moves and the Galileo G Picchiotti is there, free to explore and accompany her on her trip around the Sun.
