The dream of every fisherman is to catch a marlin, a species considered one of the best jewels and treasures of the sea. Luck is the boss, hence for more than 30 years that dream come true for Bob Robert Bisbee, who began a game among friends with a purse of $ 5,000, and now has passed the baton to new generations leaving a legacy to his sons Wayne and Patricia Bisbee, giving rise to one of the tournaments that has managed to be the largest in the world for its prizes in some years has exceeded $ 4 million.

From the beginning, the foundation is the excellent fishing that Los Cabos, Marlin Capital of the World, offers, which allows you to perform the competition every year without interruption in the month of October to make way for the passion of every fisherman to become millionaire overnight. The deep water canyons and underwater currents achieved with one of the best specimens of the world, which today gives rise to a tradition: the Bisbee tournament season, which was already considered an important part of this beautiful destination as the same event, was born in favor of catching the best specimen.

 

 

This year the dates chosen were 20 to 23 October, where the XXXI Bisbee Black & Blue Tournament in Los Cabos Baja California Sur, marked the end of hurricane season and the beginning of the era of tourism. The climate once again allowed 3 days of excellent fishing.

In this edition hundred boats participated with 592 fishermen from 12 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, United States, France, Japan, Mauritius, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama and Russia, bringing together a bag of $ 2,181,455, divided among the various awards and also offer a daily Jackpot of $ 619,000.

We witness gladly each year the presence of different countries increases as well as by Mexican contestants, and this time was attended by teams from Monterrey, Tamaulipas, Leon, Acapulco and Los Cabos, having the first participation ever in the starting flare-out of a Secretary of Tourism, in this case to the Secretary Gloria Guevara Manzo, accompanied by Governor of the State, Marcos Covarrubias Villaseñor.

 

 

 

This time the team Amura Yachts & Lifestyle, along with Otaduy, participated with two boats Yachts enjoying another year of this spectacular event, the most famous worldwide that began on October 18 with the record of the meeting of captains in the Baja Cantina restaurant and night was the opening gala in the courtyard of the Plaza Puerto Paraíso TAYCO with the presentation of a Japanese band who plays drums, and then give way to the cauldron and close on a show fireworks.

The trip out was on Wednesday 19 at 8:00 am aboard the vessel Spirit 2010, with the spectacular start of the hundred ships involved.

It is worth mentioning that the efforts of the organizers and Mexican Law on Fisheries, for the conservation of species, only allowed the capture of more than 300 pounds, resulting in a lot of release, with the two fish rule per boat per day. The winners of the Bisbee’s Black and Blue Marlin Tournament 2011 were: in fourth place, the Lobo team captured a Blue Marlin weighing 313 lbs, taking $ 259,745; third, the Pegasus team, which won a 329 pounds blue marlin, which was awarded to  283,752; second, the Tiger Team Spirit, who caught a marlin of 395 pounds, and won $ 1,162 842 U.S. dollars; and finally, the winner of the first place was the team Bad Medicine with a blue marlin of 409 pounds, taking a price of $ 903,940.

The event left in Los Cabos an economic flow, and brought together participants from around the world. The closing and awards ceremony consisted of a dinner where video a of the tournament was presented and brought together people from business and government officials.

Finally, Ricardo Garcia, congratulated in the name of the Government of the State of Baja California Sur to the organizers, Robert Bisbee and Cliserio Mercado, for the completion of this edition of Bisbee’s fishing 2011, as well as the winning teams.
