The innovative "additional platform" – Sea View Terrace – creates the cascading optical effect of four staggered terraces.

Exhibited worldwide at the Monaco Yacht Show 2021 as Azimut Yachts' flagship at 125 ft in length, the Azimut Grande Trideck is the largest model to come out of the Italian brand's ship-yard.

It quickly provoked positive reactions for its design, especially for its innovative "additional platform" – Sea View Terrace – to the traditional three decks, creating the cascading optical effect of four staggered terraces descending from the Sundeck to the water's edge. For this reason, the vessel is known as Azimut Trideck "+One."

The yacht is the result of Azimut Yachts' collaboration with Italian Alberto Mancini, who created the exteriors, in combination with interiors by fellow Italian Achille Salvagni, and a unique hull by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture, developer of naval architecture and Azimut Benetti's Research and Development department.

As part of the modern exterior design, Mancini lightened the lines to give it a sense of great dynamism; while Salvagni rethought the way the interior space is used, by going beyond classic arrangements and presenting a more natural way of living on board.

During the process of creating the yacht, the interior dining room was moved from the main deck to the upper deck, a solution that transformed the main deck into an area dedicated to conviviality among guests.

A floating terrace

The 322 sq ft Sea View Terrace, located aft of the main deck, is an extra platform, suspended 6.5 ft above the sea surface, in full harmony with the other terraces; it includes the Private Patio, an additional intimate area, also in the open air. The other spaces overlooking the sea are the Sundeck, for sunbathing, the Upper Deck, with an open-air dining area, and the Beach Club, for diving into the sea.

The vessel is offered in a couple of configurations, with five or six cabins, including the full beam owner's suite. In addition, there is a side hatch to store a tender, Jet Ski and water toys.

Recognition for innovation

For the unique Sea View Terrace design, the Grande Trideck won the Cabin Cruisers, Motor Yachts category for redefining outdoor living on board at the 2022 Miami Innovation Awards, presented at the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show 2022.

The awards organized by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI), honor innovative products from manufacturers and suppliers in the marine industry.

The debut of the Grande Trideck, a brand of Azimut Benetti Group, to the U.S. public took place at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2021.

Thinking about sustainability

Grande Trideck symbolizes Azimut Yachts' increasing focus on sustainability, with the use of Azimut Carbontech, a carbon fiber laminate, in much of the superstructure, resulting in a weight reduction to less than 300 GT, 30% less than a similar model, reflected in a significant decrease in fuel consumption.

The second generation D2P (Displacement to Planing) semi-flat hull of the Grande Trideck, incorporates notable improvements, not only in terms of efficiency at sea and a saving in fuel consumption, by allowing the yacht to reach high top speeds without the need to install powerful engines, or navigation in displacement mode, at a moderate speed, with a remarkable range and passenger comfort, and most importantly, an increase in range.

The D2P hull is based on the combination of three main elements: the double chine provides stability at increased displacement speeds, and reduced drag at higher speeds; the bow wave piercer increases waterline length and reduces fuel consumption in displacement mode and pitching in rough seas; finally, the central skeg ensures excellent course stability, particularly in rough seas.

The Zero Emission Hotel Mode system allows the yacht to remain at anchor with zero emissions and in total silence. This equipment automatically optimizes electrical power consumption by means of a lithium-ion battery pack instead of using generators, with duration of up to four hours during the day, or eight hours at night, depending on the energy needs of the various services on board and weather conditions.

Sailing comfort is ensured by Argo, the high-tech stabilization mechanism, designed and supplied by CMC Marine, which automatically coordinates the movements of the electric stabilizer fins with the autopilot, eliminating constant course corrections for a smooth ride.

Grande Trideck offers two thruster options: a pair of MTUs, each rated at 2,400 or 2,600 hp. During sea trials, the first unit equipped with the 2,600-hp engine option reported a top speed of 24 knots; it also had a range of 700 nautical miles at 19 knots, rising to more than 1,700 nautical miles at a speed of 12 knots.
