"Good wind and good sea" during the three days of the Cancun International Boat Show and Marine Expo, which celebrated its third edition at the GOS Marina and Marina Puerto Cancun, in Quintana Roo.
Amura Yachts & Lifestyle participated in the three-day Cancun International Boat Show and Marine Expo (CIBSME) with a floating stand that became the meeting point for celebrities and distinguished visitors to Mexico's largest and most important marine lifestyle event.
The marine family was gathered from December 1 to 3, 2023, with the presence of yacht dealers, national, American, European and Asian exhibitors of nautical accessories (engines, marine supplies and spare parts, marine service providers, charter operators, as well as tourist destinations), promoters of services at sea, the Ministry of the Navy and leaders of the marine industry met with potential buyers, in addition to the attendance of the general public interested in having an approach to the vessels, and even get started in the maritime life.
The organizers acknowledged that expectations were exceeded by achieving firm sales during the event, in excess of 20 million dollars, with negotiations to be confirmed. It is estimated that the economic turnover during the three days of the event reached 45 million dollars.
This third edition of CIBSME featured the exhibition of more than 150 brands of accessories and electronics and 118 boats from 36 shipyards, against the backdrop of the Marina Puerto Cancun and its spectacular surrounding buildings, including the Shark Tower. With an audience of approximately 10 thousand national and international visitors during the three days of the boat show that promotes tourism and life at sea in Mexico. In the center of the marina, various nautical exhibitions were held to demonstrate the latest trends and products in the market.
The welcome cannon shots
CIBSME began with a Mayan ceremony dedicated to the Mayan gods, led by a priestess accompanied by dancers, with the sound of drums and conch shells in the background, recalling the sea and rain routes traveled by the ancient inhabitants of the area.
The Mayor of Cancun, Ana Patricia Peralta, attended the ceremony and commented that the inauguration of CIBSME "is a special day for Cancun, coinciding with the inauguration of Cancun Airport". She was accompanied by authorities from the Ministry of the Navy, as well as Pablo Fernandez, president of the Mexican Association of Tourist Marinas, Francisco Fernandez, president of Nautical Associates of Quintana Roo, and Steven Lorenzo, director of CIBSME, who said that soon CIBSME will become the only international boat show in Latin America, keeping Cancun as the venue.
Then came the cannon shots from a boat to mark the official start of the event, followed by a tour and demonstration of water rescue exercises by elements of the Mexican Navy.
More than just marine life
In addition to the exhibition of luxury yachts in the water, smaller boats were displayed on land, as well as engines, electronic equipment and accessories for diving, fishing and other nautical items.
On the marina's waters, a regatta was held with the participation of the young members of the Puerto Cancun Sailing School, as well as demonstrations of motosurf, foil, flyboard, jetsky racing and other trendy nautical toys, including an open paddle surf competition at 1.5 and 3 miles distances. Art exhibitions, food tastings and a fashion show took place in the VIP lounge area. Before the end of CIBSME, Steven Lorenzo set the date for the next edition of CIBSME, which will include a VIP day exclusively for industry professionals, from December 5 to 8, 2024.
