Adler Thermae Spa & Wellness Resort

For centuries, Italians have been “taking the waters” in Bagno Vignoni. With its healing thermal pools and ethereal setting, the small Tuscan village makes an ideal locale for Adler Thermae Spa & Wellness Resort. Built in the style of an ancient rural villa, the hotel serves as a centrepiece for your unforgettable healing experience. From typical Tuscan cuisine to regional wines to a unique range of saunas and thermal baths, la dolce vita is elevated to an entirely new level.

This family-owned property features a bounty of incomparable wellness experiences, including the Grotta Salina (an underground salt bath) and the Artemisia herbal steam room. You can tone your body in the Argillae Rasul Mud bath or restore lost energy in the Grotta del Filosofo. When you’re not unwinding in the olive tree wood sauna on the lake or indulging in a soothing massage, you might mountain bike, horseback ride or stroll to the abbeys, Renaissance villages and vineyards of the Orcia Valley.

The ancient Etruscans and then the Romans were very much aware of the curative powers of the waters at Bagno Vignoni, a little spa with a great thermal bath tradition. The Medici Prince Lorenzo the Magnificent and Pope Pius II both took the waters at the famous thermal baths on the Via Francigena. Just a few minutes’ walk from idyllic Bagno Vignoni, ADLER THERMAE now continues this old spa tradition with modern luxury in a beautiful natural setting.

Fregatte Private Island

Tha name of the Island comes from the bird that lives here and is the pirate of the air - unable to swim or land on water - it uses a combination of  speed and skillful manoeuvres to steal the ‘loot’ of other seabirds.

A 20 minute flight from Mahé, Frégate rises 125 meters out of the Indian Ocean - a tropical paradise which covers three square kilometers and is the most remote and secluded of the Seychelles granite islands. Like the bird after which it is named, Frégate symbolizes nature at its most inspirational. Four degrees south of the equator, Frégate is an island of outstanding natural beauty; giant granite boulders rise from the powdery white sand of seven beaches, protected by granite barriers.

Construction of the resort was subject to strict regulations to safeguard the environment and the preservation and protection of the island’s unique flora and fauna continues to be amongst Frégate’s main priorities.

With no more than 40 guests at any one time, guests are invited to experience the rare treat of luxury, security and seclusion within the natural beauty of a tropical island setting.

It is secluded, but not out of this world. It is precious, but not beyond our means. It is fragile, but not untouchable.

Uma Paro

Uma Paro a place for perfect contemplation. In autumn 2004, COMO Hotels and Resorts opened Uma Paro, a 29-room hotel offering five-star comfort and singular style in the wildly beautiful Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.

Uma Paro is an inland retreat, dedicated to Uma’s understated philosophy of quiet comfort in inspiring, culture-rich locations. It is also a place for adventure, where the landscape and people won’t fail to uplift you.

Retreat at Uma Paro is Bhutan’s first significant holistic health spa. Not only has this once closed country only recently opened up to foreign visitors, but Bhutan is perfectly suited to COMO Shambhala’s way of thinking. It is an ancient Buddhist kingdom where the practice of yoga and meditation forms part of many people’s daily lives. It therefore has a resonance that’s unique.

The Retreat’s substantial facilities make use of its inspiring location, with an open-air yoga pavilion overlooking the Paro Valley. Views include pine forest, villages, fields and rivers set into a mountainous enclave. Standing at 2,300 meters on a 38-acre hilltop site, the altitude lowers blood pressure and pulse rates, allowing clients to lose weight more easily and sleep more soundly.

COMO Shambhala

The Estate occupies the former property known as Begawan Giri, created by Bradley and Debbie Gardner in 1998, with an extraordinary 23-acre (9.3 hectare) location on a jungle-covered riverbank a 15-minute drive from the inland town of Ubud. In 2004, the COMO Group assumed management and majority ownership, and have since changed the property to launch it anew – with a completely altered purpose – supported by substantial health facilities and extended accommodation, allowing The Estate to become the world’s first full-service residential health retreat. The Estate’s specific site utilizes water from The Source, a natural spring locally revered for its healing properties. And the Estate’s architecture has been overseen by Cheong Yew Kuan, who designed the original Begawan Giri. Interiors of the COMO Shambhala health facilities and new accommodations – these include five one, two and threebedroom Villas, three two-bedroom Garden Villas, and two onebedroom Retreat Villas (each with a private therapy room and pool) – are by Koichiro Ikebuchi.

Facilities, which include Ojas (the principal treatment area), Shikara (where the Consultants and the COMO Shambhala Activity Centre are located), and Kedara (the water gardens positioned beside the river Ayung, and providing four further treatment rooms with rest areas, baths, showers and hot tub) use water from The Source the Estate’s natural spring.

In total, there are nine treatment rooms (including three for couples), an outdoor hydrotherapy area, swimming pool, yoga room, Pilates studio and a separate male/female steam and sauna, a fullyequipped indoor gym with dramatic views, an outdoor jungle gym with a climbing wall and four consultation rooms.
