An Elegantly Luxurious Hotel
Lisbon’s light has always enchanted writers, painters, photographers and moviemakers. This city has constantly provided unique, creative inspiration.
Portuguese architect José Luis Monteiro was one of those so inspired when he built the Avenida Palace Hotel, located in the Baixa, the heart of the city. It was constructed at the request of the Real Compañía de “Caminos de Ferro” (the railroad) and inaugurated on October 10, 1892.
Of neoclassic style, the hotel is preferred by many of the world’s celebrities and jet set.
The Avenida Palace is, no doubt, one of Europe’s most elegant hotels. In 1937, Japan’s Emperor Hirohito spent his honeymoon there and The Count of Monte Cristo and The House of Spirits were filmed in this marvelous place.
The hotel’s décor is Louis XV, Luis XVI and Belle Epoque. In 1998, Lucien Donnat, the renowned, creative French architect, redecorated it with exceptional taste, respecting the original concept.
All the room have been completely remodeled and elegantly furnished in an assortment of classic styles. The room are soundproof, have air conditioning and heating, mini bar, telephone, Internet access and music and television with a variety of channels. The bathrooms are marble and have a hair dryer, luxurious amenities and 110 and 220 voltage.
Service offered by the management and staff is impeccable and they also speak several languages such as Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. The Avenida Palace Hotel is, no doubt, a place that offers luxurious, elegant experiences for the business and vacation traveler.
