The Most Beautiful Spa Became a City
Once upon a time, while trying to hunt a deer in the western Bohemian woods, King Charles IV discovered these thermal water springs that made him immediately forget his prime purpose. Without much detail let’s say this royal finding led to the foundation of Karlovy Vary (1349), also known as Karlsbad -both in Czech and German the names mean the same: Charles’ Spa. The origin of the name is obvious because of the legend about the King. He washed a wound he had on his leg, which healed in brief time. That was enough for him to found this beautiful Spa City.
Mountains embrace the thick woods and its multicolored trees surround the town’s fantastic architecture in a picture seen only in fairytales… and in Karlovy Vary. Palaces built centuries ago but so well preserved they look like recent works. Spa Hotels, Spa Resorts, High End Lifestyle in dozens of options offer wellness by either therapeutic or simply touristic means.
Goethe came over to Karlovy Vary thirteen times to get cured in these thermal waters; Russian Tsar Peter the Great, twice. The satisfaction obtained by visitors in Karlovy Vary is at the level of kings, tsars, political leaders and artists of historic transcendence. These are professional Spa services and thermal waters for a perfect wellbeing and relax, right at Europe’s heart.
Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has won fame. By the way, this year (June 27th – July 9th) the Mexican film “Nos vemos, papa” (See you, dad), first film by Lucia Carreras. Shall we go?
