Volcanic island that has been nominated by UNESCO as a world heritage site for its lava tubes. It should be noted that the world’s largest lava tube belongs to this island. It has a romantic tropical climate which has increased the tourism in the area. Two traditions are present on the island: the dolharubang, stone figures representing guardian elders of stone, and the haenyeo, the diving women of the island who daily make an exhibition on the coast of Umutgae.
