The moon at the reach of  your hands

My dear friend and AMURA reader, it is a pleasure to meet. Like in every edition we will conversate about the innovations of a world beyond fascination, the world of watchmaking. For this industry, the sky is the limit, and when this limit is pushed, it simply reinvents and overflows. As a sample of this, I give myself the liberty of bringing RJ-Romain Jerome, to the conversation, who in  continuous voyages from Earth to the Moon has concieved a new generation of time instruments. The Black Mood and Steel Mood chronographs, are simply enhancing the Moon Dust-DNA collection with new aesthetic declarations.

This marvel goes further. Black Mood expresses lunar time with a darkened PVD steel round case of 44 mm which carries the iconic “claws” or RJ-Romain Jerome and is crowned by a carbon fiber bevel, with a soul forged on fragments of the Apolo 11. The date of that historic mission, naturally, inspierd the number of this limited edition: 1969. It’s “instrumental” vocation stood out by two  buttons with black PVD notches. One, with a red insert at 2 ‘clock which is  used to start and stop the cronograph implused by a movement of the automatic cord. The restart button is located at 4 o´clock.

The black dial is a hand sculpted representation of the moon’s surface, it’s material contains a small amount of precious Moon Dust; of which only a few thousand grams have been brought to Earth. The round seconds counter, reaching 9 hours, owns a four blade needle that evoques the satellite solar panels (the red color blade is used as a time marker). The black hands of hours and minutes have been deliberately oxidized, these have been upgraded with “blue emission” Superluminova. Those who are devoted of astro-watch missions, will be able to choose the crocodile strap, with textile materials which have been sewed and carbon fibers that were recovered from the special ISS suits.

With the Steel Mood, the Moon Dust- DNA, Romain Jerome takes a poetic note to the oniric purity of Moonlight watchmaking. The cornograph has all the distinctive disigns of the brand (a 46 mm case with four “legs”, screwed up ears, long sculpted buttons, a four blade propeller with solar satellite panel form, and a red seconds marker), how ever, the dial appears with a “lunar grey” (which contains a small amount of astral dust, of this evoques its surface), the bevel is made of carbon fibers, ( with a base of steel, made regularly by the brand, a fusion of steel and fragments of the Apolo 11 capsule (in its 1969 limited edition). The black rubber strap, confirms this dream-like dimention of the Moon which trascends time and changing fashions. Although the future owners can choose a black leather strap reinforced with technical fibers of a special ISS suit.

Why settle with gazing at the moon from a distance each night, besides looking at it as a poetic symbol, if you can carry it as the most extraordinary expression of time and aesthetics. you don’t believe it...
