A New Breed of Hybrid
SSwedish carmaker Koenigsegg isn’t looking to release traditional models. The goal is to build re-volutionary machines that will not only be the fastest on the roads of the world, but also that surpass the new electric/hybrid vehicles in the market with cutting-edge technology and luxury.

Regera significa “Reinar” en sueco, y es el nombre perfecto para la potencia y la capacidad de respuesta que el motor de combustión V8 de doble turbo de 5.0 litros, más tres motores eléctricos con un paquete de baterías de 800 voltios y 4.5kWh pueden alcanzar, acelerando de 0 a 400 km/h en 20 segundos.
The new Koenigsegg Regera accomplishes this and more. With a production of only 80 vehicles, manufactured at Koenigsegg’s production facility in Ängelholm, Sweden, the exclusive Regera is fast, efficient, innovative and luxurious. Regera means “to Reign” in Swedish, and it’s the perfect moniker for the power and responsiveness that the 5.0 liter twin-turbo V8 combustion engine, plus three electric motors with a 800 volt, 4.5kWh battery pack are capable of, accelerating from 0 to 400 km/h in 20 seconds.
Koenigsegg labels the Regera as a new breed of hybrid because its efficiency isn’t compromised by its electrification; on the contrary, it’s enhanced. The carmaker also leaves behind the tradi-tional gearbox in order to accommodate the Koenigsegg Direct Drive transmission (KDD), inven-ted by Christian von Koenigsegg himself and further developed by his Advanced Engineering team. The new system allows direct drive to the rear axle from the combustion engine with no need of gear shifts, since they create energy loss.
Aside from spectacular performance, the hybrid offers smooth drivability and complete silence in full electric mode. The interiors offer unprecedented comfort with 8-way electrically adjustable memory foam seats, in addition to 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity plus a 9” infotainment system that features Apple CarPlay, front, inner and rear camera system with recording capability, and more.
