Timeless Elegance and Immense Horsepower
The high-performance marketplace has created a dilemma for shipbuilders: should they go with faster and extremely maneuverable vessels, or focus on size and comfort? For Palm Beach, the answer was, “Why not both?”
The new GT 50, on display at the 2018 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, is a visually stunning cruiser capable of reaching 40-plus knots and an economic cruise speed in the mid-30 knot range. It is able to perform in this manner thanks to its twin 600-horsepower Volvo ISP 800 engines, which consume only 40 gallons (151 liters) per hour at 35 knots, making it one of the most efficient yachts available to consu-mers today.
Moreover, Palm Beach’s unique hull design results in less resistance, keeping the bow in the water. As it slices through it, it avoids wasting energy and, in turn, fuel. Lightweight, strong construction—a fully infused vinylester cored e-glass construction complemented by a fully infused, 100% carbon fiber deck and superstructure—ensures its efficiency.
The GT 50’s outdoor space is able to accommodate a large group of guests. Two L-shaped settees in the cockpit make for a comfortable lounge area. The helm deck, in turn, is ideally suited for dining. The vessel is also outfitted with a refrigerator and icemaker in the cockpit to compliment the galley below. Below deck, contemporary finishes blend into a timeless elegance that ensures that the vessel always looks right at sea. The owner will be able to select from timber options including wenge, teak, or ash; as well as a broad selection of double-stitched fabrics for the master stateroom. It is, in short, a home away from home.
