An exclusive artistic project of Hussein Chalayan, one of the most innovative experimental fashion designers of current times, who has associated with Level Vodka to create an unprecedented artistic installation, entitled The Level Tunnel by Hussein Chalayan vol.08, which intends to encourage visitors to explore and experiment with the senses, with the exception of the sight, the flavor of Level.

The project’s world tour began in May in Mexico City and will continue for the rest of the year in Athens, Paris and Istanbul, highlighting visitors’ taste experiences by combining their sensory perceptions as they move through the installation blindfolded.

Hussein Chalayan was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. He graduated from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London in 1993. The collection he designed to win the title consisted silk and cotton clothing embedded with iron files taken from his garden. The collection was immediately acquired by Browns, placing as a new and important force in the world of fashion.  Hussein Chalayan launched his own brand in 1994.

 

 

In 1995 Chalayan won the ABSOLUT design prize and was named British Designer of the Year in 1999 and 2000. Hussein uses films, installations, and sculptural forms to explore perception and the realities of modern life and he has a special interest in cultural identity, migration, anthropology, technology, nature and genetics. His trend is to present his work in exhibitions and art galleries and his clothes are on sale in the boutiques of the main cities of the world.

For his most recent Spring/Summer 2008 collection, Chalayan produced a film entitled “Interpretations” in collaboration with Nick Knight and SHOWstudio, which was shown in October 2007 during Paris Fashion Week.
