East and West collide and mix in perfect harmony at an African winery
CaIndisputably one of the best restaurants in the world, La Colombe is also an iconic South Afri-can establishment founded on the historic Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate. Recently, it relocated under a new ownership at Silvermist Organic Wine Estate at Constantia Nek, overlooking False Bay and Hout Bay.
La Colombe is Scot Kirton’s, chef and proprietor, prized possession. A place where his philosophy and approach lies in the fusion of Asian and French cuisine; where numerous awards have been won bringing out the very best of each and every plate. At Colombe, only the freshest seasonal produce is used to create straightforward flavors and classical presentations to inspire in others a passion for food.
The restaurant features two “Chef’s Menu’s”: standard and vegetarian, each consisting of multiple dishes paired with only the most exemplary wines. Diners will be able to enjoy such creations as marlin tataki with burnt lime, foie gras mushroom and springbrook; sweet potato, wagyu drippings, and oxtail; thai coconut linefish; as well as vegetarian dishes such as sweetcorn tamale, swiss chard cannelloni, and Cape Malay passionfruit.
Diners may also indulge in a selection of cheeses brought about in a veritable chest, as well as an exotic pair of vanilla and banana desserts featuring the little-known, but highly exquisite tonka beans.
We advise to make reservations well in advance. Bear in mind as well that this is a fine dining restaurant, and as such, children under 10 are not allowed for lunch or dinner reservations.
