Tangolunda
Then Huatulco was first being designed, what they took into consideration were the nine bays and ways to keep visitors entertained. They did not overlook golfers and created Tangolunda, one of the great courses.
Nestled between green mountains and the Pacific Ocean and with an excellent climate most of the year, it is the ideal place to play at any time. If you are staying at one the hotels in the area, you only have to cross the street to reach the course, whose greens and fairways are trimmed daily.
The wind changes constantly along its 18 holes, Architects Mario Schjetnan and Pedro Giiereca took full advantage of the 72-hectare (178-acre) terrain to create a unique course. On the first turn, holes 4 and 9 are quite striking. On the way back, before trying for a birdie at the 14th hole, look for the different migratory birds that inhabit the nearby lake. But it is the 18th hole, with its palms, design and unique views, that takes first prize.
However, right in front of the 13th hole tee is Tangolunda Bay, which becomes a natural sand trap. This 476 yard par 5 has a fairway which advances to the left and has trees and palms to the right. Trees frame both sides of its 400 yards and. at the end, is the aforementioned natural trap.
Golfers will also find three lakes, home to countless migratory birds that inhabit the area, as well as lush vegetation com bined with fruit trees and palms: players must be careful of the out of bounds. Average golfers are spoiled by the ample fairways planted with Bermuda grass, while the greens are Bermuda 328 and the rough is a hybrid Bermuda capable of supporting the salinity.
How to Play Them
Hole 4 is a 395-yard par 4 with a straight fairway. The stroke from the tee has to be accurate because, at 150 yards, there are trees to the left and. at 200 yards and in the center, there is a sand trap. To the left is the green, protected by a sand trap to the right.
Another challenging par 4 is hole 9. 452 yards and a dogleg to the left. 350 yards from the green and protected by a sand trap at the end and to the right.
In order to get par. the second shot has to land near the flag.
At hole 14. is a 426 yard par 4, with palms along both sides of the fairway and with a green protected by a pair of traps, one on each end. so the approach must be down the middle, depending on where the flag is placed.
Hole 18 is a dogleg, 432 yard par 4, bordering two lakes: the first presents a slight obstacle but it is an ideal hole for the daring player because it has a green protected by trees to the right and two traps, one at the beginning and another to the right.

The designers of the course had the average golfer in mind when they laid out the ample greens, some on two levels, where the putt has to be precise and must be accompanied by a good shot from the starting line.
At the end of the round, enjoy a refreshing drink at the colonial style Clubhouse and admire the scenery. It has a full range of services, including a restaurant-bar. Pro shop and dressing rooms. There is also a swimming pool and four illuminated tennis courts and bleachers for 300 people.
