Golf and a tan boot

In Acapulco, the Tres Vidas and Acapulco Princess golf courses, each with its own style, should be played. Their designers created spectacular settings that, because of the difficulty of their greens, have been the site of international tournaments. However, the average player can play a round and even has a chance to “steal” a birdie.

Take a world-class course, add sun, palm trees and the excellent climate of one of Mexico’s top vacation resorts, Acapulco, and what you get is an unforgettable 18-hole round of golf.

Two extraordinary courses Tres Vidas and Acapulco Princess, each offering a different challenge. Both are framed by the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by golden sands, and set amidst palm trees that sway softly in the breeze.

One of the courses most singled out by golfers is the Acapulco Princess, located on the outskirts of the hotel of the same name. Here, Ted Robinson took advantage of its proximity to the sea to create a beautiful, par 72 course.

Inaugurated in 1971, it has been adapted to the needs and requirements of today’s players who, in their golf bags, carry clubs and balls that go a greater distance (depending, of course, on whether or not they hit the ball on its sweet spot).

The course opened on the same day as the famous pyramid-shaped hotel. With its 6360 yards from the Championship tees, it may not be very long, but you have to take into account that, according to the experts, the ball travels 15% less at sea level, so you should not be over confident.

Some fairways are narrow, framed with palms and water traps at the 12th and 18th holes. Because it is so beautiful, it is rated it among the top 25 golf resorts, which speaks well of the excellent care that is taken of the course.

The signature hole is the 18th, a par 4 with a dogleg right, and a lake on the fairway. The drive should be made down the center, with a good approach shot and a couple of putts to make par.

You can find only six holes without water which means that you really have to be precise when you hit the ball because the lakes are there, waiting for a bad shot.

There are several difficult holes, but all are laid out amidst flower beds and lush local vegetation, which is why it has been chosen as the setting for several international tournaments.
