Situated at the banks of the Bacalar Laguna, the most important of the southern Laguna’s in the state of Quintana Roo, which unfolds in and around the Laguna, the nearby mayan ruins, and the town of Chetumal. The Laguna is home to delicious local seafood, boat excursions, and other services. The Mueso de la Guerra de Castas located in front of the old San Felipe fort displays firearms and artifacts from Bacalar’s founders. The Cenote Azul, allows travelers to see down to the ocean floor, 100ft from the surface of the water.
