his year, various qualifying events have
taken place to determine which Mexican
yachts will represent our country in the
next world J24 Class Championship to be held
in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco in March 2007.
The National Team consists of 18 boats
including the AMURA Team, which stood out in
the two eliminating series held in Puerto
Vallarta.
On November 3, 4 and 5, as well as December
1, 2 and 3, sailors from throughout Mexico gath-
ered in the waters of the Bahía de Banderas to
compete for the privilege of representing our
country in the world championship. For the
first time in history of the J24 class, a fleet of 39
boats andmore than 200 yachtsmen assembled
in Puerto Vallarta. The competition was very
close with a high level of competitiveness. 15
regattas were completed in changeable weath-
er conditions in which the winds varied from 4
to 17 knots, oscillating up to 40° and with
strong currents, elements that put the skills of
the yachtsman to the test.
The AMURA Team plans to continue with its
training program to arrive at the national
championship with strong possibilities of win-
ning and later representingMexico in the world
championship with dignity.

lo largo de este año se han llevado a cabo dife-
rentes eventos de clasificación para determi-
nar a las embarcaciones mexicanas que
representarán a nuestro país en el próximo
Campeonato Mundial de la clase J24 a celebrarse en
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco en marzo del 2007.
La Selección Nacional está constituida por 18
barcos dentro de los cuales se encuentra el Equipo
AMURA, el cual tuvo una muy destacada participa-
ción en las dos series eliminatorias celebradas en
Puerto Vallarta.
Los días 3,4 y 5 de Noviembre así como el 1,2 y 3
de Diciembre, veleristas de toda la República
Mexicana se dieron cita en las aguas de la Bahía de
Banderas para competir por el privilegio de represen-
tar a nuestro país en el campeonato mundial. Por pri-
mera vez en la historia de la clase J24 se reunió una
flota de 39 barcos y más de 200 veleristas en Puerto
Vallarta. La competencia fue muy cerrada y con un
alto nivel de competitividad. Se completaron 15
regatas bajo condiciones climatológicas cambiantes
en donde los vientos variaron desde los 4 hasta los
17 nudos de intensidad con una oscilación de hasta
de 40 grados y una fuerte corriente, elementos que
pusieron a prueba todas las habilidades de los vele-
ristas. El equipo AMURA planea seguir con su progra-
ma de entrenamiento para llegar al campeonato
nacional con grandes posibilidades de ganar y poste-
riormente representar a México dignamente en el
mundial.
