medio de transmisión en “V” para agrandar el espacio de
los camarotes. Los dueños mexicanos tomaron ventaja
de esta flexibilidad por parte de Azimut y resultó en un
producto que se parece a un yate hecho a la medida.
Desde afuera, el perfil de Azimut 116 luce un barrido
confiado, enfatizado por su filo de teca sobre el canto de
las paredes bajas del casco y sus barandillas majestuo-
sas de superyate. La cubierta superior o “flybridge” ofre-
ce todo para momentos relajados en el exterior, por
mencionar algunos detalles diremos que ahí está la pa-
rrilla para cocinar camarones gigantes o róbalos mien-
tras usted se tira al sol en los camastros alrededor del
jacuzzi, y unos sofás empotrados y mesas con cubierta
de teca proporcionan las comodidades necesarias para
comer al aire libre. En la parte delantera del “flydeck”, a
babor, se encuentra el centro de mando superior, donde
el piloto puede socializar con sus huéspedes al navegar
con los instrumentos más modernos controlados por un
“touch screen” para maniobrar el yate. En la popa de la
cubierta inferior encontramos la plataforma de buceo,
desde donde se disfruta de la realización de actividades
acuáticas, como la natación, el buceo y el jetski.
El gran salón y el camarote del dueño en la cubierta
principal del Azimut 116 es un deleite. Sus portillas ova-
ladas de ambos lados dejan el paso de la luz natural, y al
abrirlas el ambiente se siente fresco y muy agradable.

The yacht’s Mexican owners wanted the reliabili-
ty and marketability of a series-production boat, but
they also wanted one with an entirely unique appear-
ance. They were attracted to Azimut in part because
the company offers broad options for its accommoda-
tions, offering even to move the engines farther aft
and connect propeller shafts through V-drives to
increase cabin space. These owners took advantage of
the company’s flexibility, resulting in a collaborative
product that has a big custom yacht feel.
From the outside this design of the Azimut 116
profile boasts a confident sweep emphasized by the
teak-capping on the low bulwarks and the majestic
superyacht style of the rails. The flybridge caters to
every relaxing need. Toss your filets of fresh fish and
shrimp on the barbecue, as you throw yourself on one
of the sun lounges surrounding the Jacuzzi pool.
Settees and teak tables offer options for alfresco din-
ing. Forward, on the flydeck, the top helm is tucked
into the port corner, which puts the pilot within
sociable reach, and has all the navigating instru-
ments at hand required to control his yacht, via a cen-
tral touch screen. Down on the diving platform on the
lower deck you can enjoy water sports such as swim-
ming, scuba diving or jetskiing.
The grand salon and the master stateroom on the
main deck of the Azimut 116 are a delight. Its triple
large oval ports on both sides give natural light; these
opening ports are large enough to provide an airy
atmosphere. While the size of this yacht will amaze
you, what will win you over completely are the ele-
gance of her line and the harmony of her design. It is
