Después de un buen desayuno, dejamos atrás los pueblos que se localizan en la conocida ruta Puc. Poco a poco, las carreteras pavimentadas y las casas de concreto se convirtieron en pequeños caminos apenas transitables para camioneta, bicicletas y caballos, y que tienen auténticas viviendas mayas. La selva se volvió mucho más cerrada y tuvimos que avanzar lentamente, pero disfrutamos los olores de la mañana, la vista de los enormes árboles, el canto de los pájaros y las flores silvestres de color rojo, en las que los insectos producían ese zumbido que a mí me pareció tan intimidante. Ya con haber sentido el vibrar de la selva yucateca el viaje había valido la pena, pero nos esperaba lo mejor. Los primeros rayos del sol nos hacían sudar y nos apresuraban para llegar a sumergirnos.
