Una vez que las cortezas se enfriaron y los cuerpos celestes, grandes y pequeños, adoptaron sus formas sólidas actuales, este planeta fue el único del Sistema Solar que recibió por dote los océanos; la vida en la Tierra depende de la salud de éstos porque controlan el clima, regulan la temperatura, absorben Co2, contienen el 97% del agua y el 97% de la biosfera. Aprendí que el mundo oceánico es un continuo cuerpo de agua salada que cubre un área de 140 millones de millas cuadradas –más de dos tercios de la superficie terrestre–.
