During the Monaco Yacht Show, Prince Albert II of Monaco, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco, visited the Benetti B.Now 67M hybrid motor yacht Dagger . Built by the Italian shipyard Benetti, the vessel now joins the fleet of yachts certified by the SEA Index.

This certification reflects the ongoing collaboration between Benetti and the Yacht Club de Monaco in support of more sustainable and responsible yachting. It also demonstrates the Italian shipyard's commitment to integrating practical solutions designed to reduce the environmental impact of yachts while maintaining their performance and comfort.

The SEA Index, developed by the YCM, is an independent environmental standard for assessing and comparing yacht CO₂ emissions. Certified by Lloyd's Register and based on quantifiable data, it provides owners and industry professionals with a tool designed to encourage continuous improvement in the environmental performance of the global fleet.

Currently, more than 130 yachts over 24 meters in length hold the certification. As of the start of the 2026 season, the certification is also available for vessels starting at 10 meters, significantly expanding its reach across the global fleet without compromising the independence or rigor of the methodology.

Beyond carbon emissions, the program was expanded in 2026 to include a specific air quality certification—developed in partnership with AtmoSud—covering nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter. Future developments could also incorporate the measurement of underwater radiated noise, further expanding the environmental impact assessment for yachts.

Following the 67-meter M/Y Kasper 7—Benetti’s first yacht to achieve SEA Index certification—the M/Y Dagger has now joined the initiative. This new certification further strengthens the shipyard's standing within the yachting community’s commitment to more responsible navigation.

With the M/Y Dagger (FB288), Benetti has developed a hybrid architecture combining conventional propulsion, electric technologies, and state-of-the-art salt-based batteries. This modular configuration allows the yacht’s operation to be adapted to various cruising scenarios and—when conditions permit—prioritizes more energy-efficient usage.

This technology also helps reduce noise and vibration while enhancing onboard comfort. Consequently, the project reflects a pursuit of balance between energy efficiency, performance, and quality of life.

Through this new SEA Index certification, Benetti reaffirms its commitment—alongside the Yacht Club de Monaco—to supporting the evolution of yachting toward more responsible practices, leveraging innovation and environmental performance measurement as tangible drivers of progress.
