Following its introduction in Japan in 2024 and a global debut earlier this year, Lexus is launching the LY680 in markets worldwide.
The LY680 is an evolution of the LY650—Lexus’s first luxury yacht—featuring a flybridge that is approximately 1.4 meters longer and a swim platform extended by 70 centimeters, bringing its total length to approximately 68 feet.
Lexus’s comprehensive approach to mobility extends beyond the land. People cross oceans and traverse the skies, enjoying unique experiences at every stage of their journey. Through these experiences, Lexus seeks to create moments and spaces where those who value authenticity can truly be themselves. At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, Chief Branding Officer Simon Humphries spoke of a future where Lexus "does not limit itself to creating cars" but extends its vision beyond land, encompassing "the sea and the air"—in other words, 360-degree mobility.
Eight years ago, in January 2017—as Toyota was advancing its transformation from an "automotive company" into a "mobility company"—Toyota Marine and Lexus unveiled the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept.
Approximately two years after the debut of the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept, the LY650 was announced in 2019, extending the brand's mobility vision to the sea. Building upon the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept, the LY650 embodied the Lexus design philosophy in a new form: a luxury yacht measuring 65 feet (20.6 meters) in length with a beam of 5.7 meters, powered by a pair of Volvo Penta IPS 1350/1050 engines.
Akio Toyoda, then-President of Toyota Motor Corporation, commented: "The LY650 symbolizes Lexus's efforts to go beyond automobiles in its quest to become a luxury lifestyle brand. I look forward to seeing the advanced and sophisticated LY650 traverse the seas of the world with its elegant presence." "As a mobility company, we will continue to explore new possibilities in the maritime realm as well."
The LY680—with a capacity for 15 people and sleeping quarters for six across three cabins—features an exterior that embodies Lexus’s "L-finesse" design philosophy, complemented by comfortable interiors crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
Lexus is not tackling this challenge alone. Rather than developing maritime mobility capabilities in-house, Lexus sought to bring its vision to life by collaborating with top-tier partners.
The LY680 is manufactured by Horizon Group, a leading Asian luxury yacht brand renowned for its custom-built yachts, advanced technical expertise, and production capabilities.
Lexus is responsible for the design and the creation of the overall experience, while Horizon Group contributes the craftsmanship and production expertise honed through years of building large yachts.
The LY680 was born from the combination of these capabilities—along with yacht production methods adapted from the Toyota Production System (TPS)—leveraging the strengths of both brands.
