The Rolex Sydney Hobart regatta took place recently with the participation of a fleet of 102 ships, which set sail from Sydney Harbor on December 26, travelled 628 nautical miles (1,145 km) and finally arrived at Hobart (Tasmania). The supermaxi LDV Comanche broke records, and the absolute victory went to Matt Allen’s ICHI BAN TP52, which performed admirably in navigation, completing the course in one day and 19 hours.

The legendary sailing event, founded in 1945 and which has been organized to this day by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, with the support of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and Rolex as official sponsor since 2002, is known for rewarding preparation and tenacity, promoting innovation, and the high commitment and skill it demands.

Just like other 600-mile oceanic classic events, such as the Rolex Fastnet or the Rolex Middle Sea Race, winning the Rolex Sydney Hobart is a huge challenge. The 74th edition of the Rolex Sydney Hobart will depart from Sydney Harbor at 1:00 pm (local time) on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.
