In the heart of a natural, 40-hectare (100 acre) setting, the construction of this charming hotel harmonizes with the surroundings, offering its guests privacy and a dream-like ambiance.

The tranquility of the spot invites guests to relax because there are no telephones, electricity, discos, nightclubs or restaurants nearby. Concerned about ecology, everything that is used on the property is recycled or biodegradable, since most of the fruits and vegetables are cultivated in Hotelito’s garden.

At sunset, the romantic ambiance is more apparent and it is even more enjoyable when the housekeepers light hundreds of candles that warmly illuminate the rooms.

Rooms

There are 24 cabins, called “palafitos”, of which 12 are built on stilts at the edge of the estuary and 12 on the beach. Each of the 24 palafitos has white cotton sheets, hand embroidered bedspreads, cotton towels and mosquito nets that seductively cover the beds.

The wood floors of the rooms and the bathroom showers with bamboo walls create the feeling of being in the midst of the gardens.

Cuisine

The cuisine, including fresh fish and seafood, is traditionally Mexican and based on recipes of the region. Coffee service to the rooms is from 8:00 to 10:00 A.M.; breakfast and dinner are served in El Cantarito (breakfast from 8:00 to 11:00 A.M. and dinner from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M); snacks and lunch are served in El Nopalito (Beach Club) from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. and 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., respectively.

Activities

Daily activities include beach volleyball, tours of the estuary, bird watching, windsurfing, billiards, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding on the beach. A Spa with rustic ambiance offers massages and other treatments and also has a steam bath, cold water Jacuzzi and hammocks in which to relax after the treatments.

Location

Hotelito Desconocido is an hour and 40-minute drive from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Located 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Puerto Vallarta, follow highway 200 to the Cruz de Loreto exit and continue until you reach the Estero de El Ermitaño.
