One Century, One Family

The Goring Hotel has been operated by four generations of one family. In 1910, he began O. R. Goring began operations and today, it is run by his grandson Jeremy.  To mark the century of the hotel in 2010, Jeremy Goring ordered some restoration work. “I wanted the hotel to show its best for the next hundred years.”

The Goring Hotel was designed by famed architect John Evelyn Trollope, who created a soft, rich Edwardian Baroque style. In the gardens, a full scale statue of O. R. Goring welcomes the guests, and every morning, it gets a fresh flower for his lapel, 365 days of the year. Details like these give distinction to this illustrious hotel, as well as the care provided by the staff.

The tapestry on the walls are from the historic Gainsborough Silks factory, with the Royal Certificate awarded by Queen Elizabeth. The interiors are the epitome of English style. Each room and suite at the Goring are furnished and decorated differently, they all are spacious, luxuriously furnished. The care and attention given to the interior is constant, the Dining Room was transformed by David Linley in 2005 and the best suites are the works by Nina Campbell, Tim Gosling and Russell Sage, the latter designed The Royal Suite in 2011.

The Goring has a privileged location. The building is in Belgravia Street, in the heart of London. Within easy walk to the best shops, parks, and theaters, to Victoria Station, Buckingham Palace, the Parliament, St James Park, The Mall, Westminster and The Serpentine. A singular detail: by caprices of urbanization, the Goring ended up in the middle of a very central but surprisingly free of traffic area.

The personality of this institution is absolutely and emphatically British. It shows in the decor, menus, and the sober English treatment. The Dining Room at The Goring is the place to enjoy authentic British cuisine. It was decorated by David Linley. Whether illuminated by sunlight during the day or by Swarowski chandeliers at night, the place retains its lively atmosphere without losing its elegance. Superb cuisine, excellent wine list and a friendly brilliant crowd of notable Londoners. In 2011 The Goring Hotel was named “Hotel of the Year 2010” by the luxury travel network “Virtuoso” ® during their award ceremony “Best of the Best”. The institution is recognized for the quality of its service, which means recognition to the Goring as one of the best hotels in the world.
