Arnold & Son enters the Year of the Snake with its know-how.

Insight, intelligence and prudence are the key words for this year. In its honor, Arnold & Son has created the Perpetual Moon 41.5 Year of the Snake, a series of eight pieces in red gold. It brings together a signature caliber with a large astronomical moon, one of its specialties, a distinctive aventurine crystal caseback and a series of finely crafted details that make the watchmaker famous.

On January 29, 2025, the Year of the Wooden Snake will begin. The reptile of this element heralds change, the need for improvement, a year of negotiation, mystery and secrecy.

The key to the design of this edition is an undulating snake on the dial. Facing the observer, it is wrapped around a branch of the Tree of a Thousand Virtues, the Ginkgo biloba.

Framed by a blue aventurine crystal dial, the snake is delicately hand-engraved on a block of 18-carat rose gold. With its fine scales, forked tongue and broad, flat head, it appears realistic.

The large white mother-of-pearl moon is also realistically treated, with shades coated in Super-LumiNova. It illuminates an aventurine crystal sky and is surrounded by the constellations of Ursa Major and Cassiopeia, also treated with luminescent material.

On the back, a secondary moonphase indicator allows the complication to be set quickly and precisely. The hand-wound caliber that powers the Perpetual Moon 41.5 Red Gold "Year of the Snake" dates the age of the moon with exceptional precision.

In fact, the duration of a complete lunar cycle is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds. Arnold & Son has gotten so close that it will take 122 years for this oft-wound movement to accumulate a day of discrepancy between the display and celestial reality.
