The RSR Project introduces the Porsche RSR No. 21, which reimagines the 1986 911 by fusing Rennsport heritage with modern technology and comfort.
The latest release from the New York–based workshop dedicated to reinterpreting Porsche classics from functional, aesthetic, and mechanical perspectives, the RSR Project #21 is a classic homage with a modern soul. Based on a 1986 Porsche 911, this custom model pays homage to the legendary 1973 Rennsport Rennwagen version while precisely adapting to contemporary demands.
One of the vehicle's most distinctive elements is its finish in a color emblematic of the 911 and 914 models from 1970 to 1975. More than a nostalgic choice, this color embodies the project's intention to honor history.
The vehicle is powered by a 3.4-liter twin-turbo engine and a five-speed 915 manual transmission, which was chosen for its tactile response and mechanical character. The configuration includes four-piston brakes, an optimized suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers, and staggered Braid wheels with Michelin TB-15 tires, which offer an agile and controlled driving experience.
The interior features leather upholstery with houndstooth inserts that evoke a vintage aesthetic. The leather-wrapped dashboard and panels reinforce an understated atmosphere.
Richard Schickman, founder of The RSR Project, explains that he started the initiative after building a customized Porsche for himself. The positive response motivated him to turn his passion into a business. "Today, it's rare to find an original RSR. We build cars designed to be driven in modern conditions," he says.
