Chopard Manufacture’s manual-winding flyback chronograph caliber—one of the most innovative in the world—powers a new version of the L.U.C 1963 Heritage Chronograph, released in a numbered, limited edition of 25 pieces.
With its delicate, rounded contours, the 42mm Lucent Steel case houses a dial featuring an off-center sunburst finish in a "Prussian blue" hue. This color pays tribute to the unique history of the Canton of Neuchâtel, where Chopard established its Manufacture de Fleurier 30 years ago.
Between 1707 and 1857, this territory was under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Prussia while simultaneously serving as a Swiss canton—a status unique in Europe. It was during this period that the use of this color became widespread in the area; by choosing this iconic pigment—prized for its stability and depth—Chopard creates a symbolic link between the watch and its place of origin.
Free of a date window, the dial offers a visual balance that prioritizes the legibility of time measurements. This is enhanced by broad, rounded indices graduated from 05 to 60, indicating the chronograph function's seconds. At 12 o'clock, beneath the L.U.CHOPARD logo, the inscription "Chronometer" attests to the movement's precision, certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
The L.U.C 03.07-L—a unique and exclusive piece—is a fully integrated column-wheel chronograph caliber. It represents an evolution of Chopard Manufacture’s first self-winding chronograph movement, originally unveiled in 2006 within the L.U.C Chrono One watch. It incorporates several patented innovations—the result of the bold approach taken by the Maison’s Research and Development teams—to ensure precise adjustments and optimal use of the timing functions.
It features a flyback function that allows for consecutive timing measurements to be taken instantly via the pusher at 4 o'clock. Its unique system of three pivoting hammers with elastic arms, actuated by a single linear movement, facilitates the resetting of the hands. The movement is also equipped with a vertical clutch, ensuring that timing measurements start precisely and without any jolt. Furthermore, the stop-seconds function with zero-reset stops the small seconds hand and returns it to zero when the crown is pulled out, allowing for exact synchronization with a reference time.
