“A masterpiece on your wrist" is the continuation of the partnership between the Museum and the brand, a joint project launched in 2022 with four Métiers d'Art watches inspired by ancient civilizations.
In 2023, Vacheron Constantin and the Louvre Museum announced a new project, "A masterpiece on your wrist", which allows customers to order a special edition Les Cabonotiers watch inspired by a work of art of their choice in the museum.
Christian Selmoni, Vacheron Constantin's Style and Heritage Director, said: "This partnership offers numerous opportunities for both parties, combining their values and expertise to create joint projects and experiences.
This new initiative follows the creation of a unique timepiece inspired by a Rubens painting. Les Cabinotiers Hommage to Pierre Paul Rubens, La Lutte pour l'étendard de la Bataille d'Anghiari, a concept born thanks to the "Bid for the Louvre" auction to be held in Paris in 2020.
Vacheron Constantin participated in this auction. It offered the opportunity to acquire a bespoke watch that did not exist at the time, but would be made according to the expectations of the buyer, who could choose the work of art to be reproduced on the dial.
"The buyer was fully involved in all stages of the project: after selecting the original artwork with the Louvre curators, he was involved in the creation of the watch in our Geneva factory," Selmoni said.
In this way, for this new project, clients are invited to immerse themselves in the watchmaking experience, to visit the Manufacture and the workshops, and to be fully informed at every stage of the creation of their unique and technically demanding timepiece.
