Arrival upon Dimitri’s showroom is already an experience on its own, but if their owners are there, be sure you can scratch that off your bucket list; Jorge Camil and Christian Carlos from an excellent team , far beyond the passion for design , the care up to the most minimum detail and assertive selection of each material, cut and color, becomes minimal when you get meet these two. Honesty is their insignia brand and perfectionism their greatest quality. Their work style is very meticulous we could say it is personal.

How said you had to have a leaving room, the master bedroom, a diner, the study and a guest room? I mean…What if you don’t have a life that adapts to the space you live in?

What they do is pretty incredible, once the restoration project has begun; you just have to sit and talk, yes, run them through your day.  This way, the duo begins to plot in an ingenious way how to make your house adequate for your lifestyle; after all, the space we live in is your extension of our selves, which is their philosophy.  For them, this experience had been a 180° degree turn, Christian had a successful business based in New York; coming here represented a life adjustment. Mexico and New York are very different cities, the language, leaving his friends and the return to a career spiral in order to create another successful business, are components that without a doubt made give something to think of.

One way or the other, they have always been drawn to interiors, they have traveled and have always enjoyed that object of desire factor, a piece that makes a statement on its own “We had to share this with other people” says Jorge. What makes this firm so unique is its modus operandi, so custom made, that it can create pieces from zero according to the client style or be acquired from the floor, this work from doesn’t happen in other places.

Everything is sustainable, the woods involved in the process are FSC approved, which happens to be the Society for the Promotion of Sustainable Forest Handling, it is in charge of certifying wood from different plantations; this material is  highly appreciated by them, creating a harmony and beauty so unique in their designs.  Maintaining the wood so rustic triumphs with the warmth of the product which in combination of the juxtaposition of forged iron, rivets and beautiful tapestry. Likewise, the glues used in the creation process are non toxic, the leather tanning is completely different to the traditional procedure, and they do not use cyanide or bisphenol, amongst others.

Their travels have been an influence in the creation of these lines; most of the furniture is made from a Brazilian wood called Peroba, famous for its quality. This material is beautiful at plain sight, since it has lines traced by nature.  When they visit other cities they always have their costumer’s solicitudes in mind, in several occasions they remember what their clients want and acquire it, this items doesn’t necessarily go to the store. For Jorge and Christian it is important to comprehend their clients, it’s not just about selling, it’s about understanding how they live: some people wake up late, some people like to host dinner parties at home, other enjoy painting, reason why they try to liberate that rigidity dictated by society. “You end up using spaces you don’t need”.
