A Golf course between the forest and the river
Located in the hills that descend to the great Des Outaouais River, only 120 kilometers (74 miles) from Montreal, we found a golf course where nature plays with the greens. It is specially charming to play nine holes hidden within a beautiful forest where the green tones of spring dazzle and the colors of fall light up the scenery. Golfers will not be surprised to encounter a brook of running water, that forms cascades and small lagoons, or to discover a deer running among the trees. The course is sumptuous and elegant.
Visitors stay at the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello, a spectacular hotel built, in 1930, with 10,000 round trunks of hand carved, whole Canadian cedars. The wings of the building meet in a central, round atrium with an impressive monumental fireplace in the middle. This luxurious hotel, which, for over 40 years, was the private retreat of the Seigniory Club, also features a Spa, enormous swimming pool, exquisite cuisine, a beautiful marina, tennis courts and other activities. Guests can also rent a cabin within the private reserve of the Fairmont Kenauk, which has an area of 270 square kilometers (104 square miles). Each of the 13 cabins is located on the edge of one of the 70 lakes located in the reserve.
Playing golf in Montebello is a pleasure that permits golfers to enjoy its natural beauty and spectacular scenery and, at the same time, discover the Kenauk Reserve and this majestic, mysterious castle made of black trunks that dominates the river.
