ocated on the Andes, two hours away from
Santiago, Portillo is the most ancient ski
station in South America and is still the
best, competing with Bariloche.
This winter station in the region of Valparaiso
opened its door almost half a century ago, one of
the most important complexes in Chile and until
today is in the hands of the United States.
It is a true legend for the Andes fanatics; it uni-
tes adventures, challenges, excellent ski tracks and
superb facilities. People started skiing when the rai-
lroad uniting Valparaiso and Mendoza first started
its construction, and in 1930 the bases of this station
where developed, surrounding the Inca Lagoon.

year its competitions are long awaited like the “Sol de
Portillo”. Thebiggest track is twomiles long.
This station offers 80% of sunny days in a su-
perb landscape. The highest altitude is over 4
thousand meters and one of its greatest advanta-
ges is that it lets you enjoy skiing during the North
America’s summer.
A wonderful choice to spend the summer and
to enjoy the near excursion trips like the Atacama
Dessert or the wine region in Argentina.
Portillo is a paradise that each and every ski
lover and athlete have to discover and will fall in
love forever, ready to repeat this summer expe-
rience, where the snow is guaranteed and with
the best quality.
Also, it is today’s training destination for nu-
merous Olympic and professional athletes for the
descent discipline.
Portillo opens its doors from June 11th and has
an approximate closing time around October 8th.
August is ideal for ski addicts. Winter and Spring
are mixed together in September, offering a great
weather and the best snow quality.

ituado en Los Andes, a dos horas de camino
desde Santiago, Portillo es la más antigua
estación de esquí en América del Sur y sigue
siendo la mejor, compitiendo con Bariloche.
Esta estación invernal en la región de Valparaíso
abrió sus puertas hace más de medio siglo, uno de los
complejos más importantes de Chile, el cual se encuen-
tra en la actualidad enmanos de Estados Unidos.
Es una verdadera leyenda para los fanáticos de
Los Andes, que une aventuras, retos, excelentes
pistas y unas instalaciones soberbias. La gente empe-
zó a esquiar cuando se construía el ferrocarril que unía
Valparaíso a Mendoza, y en 1930 se desarrollaron las
bases de la estación, alrededor de la Laguna del Inca.
Portillo es la reina de las mejores pistas para
esquí y snowboard, pero también para todo tipo de
deporte y cada año sus competencias son muy espe-
radas como la del “Sol de Portillo”. La pista más larga
es de dos millas.
Esta estación ofrece 80% de días soleados en un
paisaje soberbio. La altitud más alta es de más de 4 mil
metros, y una de sus grandes ventajas es que permite
gozar del esquí cuando es verano en América del Norte.
Es una maravillosa opción para pasar el verano y
además gozar de las excursiones cercanas como el De-
sierto de Atacama o la región de vinos de Argentina.
Portillo es un paraíso que cada deportista amante
del esquí tiene que descubrir y se quedará enamo-
rado para siempre, listo para repetir esa experiencia
del verano austral, donde la nieve es garantizada y de
fabulosa calidad.
Además, es el destino hoy en día de numerosos
profesionales olímpicos de la disciplina de descensos,
el lugar a donde van a entrenar.
Abre sus puertas a partir del 11 de junio y tiene
previsto cerrar el 8 de octubre aproximadamente.
Agosto es ideal para los fanáticos al esquí. El invierno
y la primavera se mezclan en septiembre, ofreciendo
un excelente clima y la mejor calidad de nieve.
