a lot but even so the ideas were not flowing. So I
decided to take a dive in my beloved Caribbean Sea
and let my mind wander a while among its blue
tones. During my second dive, I started to think
about the history of diving in my life, and I decided
what I wanted to write about.
From as far back as I can remember, the sea has
had an irresistible and magical attraction for me. I
imagine that it is the same strong attraction felt
by the first inhabitants of this planet, so incorrectly
called “Earth”, since it’s true name should be
“Water”, since 71% of its surface is occupied by
oceans, seas, rivers and lagoons.
Water is composed of two hydrogen atoms and
a single oxygen atom. The water molecule is truly
magical because its thousands of properties make
mañana me preocupé mucho, pero aun así las ideas no
fluían. Así que preferí ir a bucear a mi querido mar
Caribe y dejar que mi mente vague un poco por esos
tonos del azul. Mientras realizaba mi segunda inmer-
sión me puse a pensar cuál había sido la historia del
buceo en mi vida, y sobre esto quise escribir.
Desde que yo recuerdo, la mar ha ejercido en mí un
irresistible y mágico llamado. Me imagino que es la
misma fuerte atracción que sintieron los primeros habi-
tantes de este planeta, mal llamado “Tierra”, pues su
nombre verdadero debería ser “Agua”, ya que su super-
ficie está ocupada en 71 % por mares, ríos y lagunas.
El agua está compuesta por dos átomos de hidró-
geno y un único átomo de oxígeno, la molécula del
agua es auténticamente mágica, pues sus miles de
propiedades hacen de ella, literalmente, el origen de la
planeta azul •
