Monaco is considered the capital of glamour in
the region, where the Grimaldi dynasty has held
power since 1297—the date of the nation’s in-
dependence—and is considered one of the old-
est royal families on the planet. Around 33,000
inhabitants live in just 2 km

, and only 19% are
Monegasque. The rest of the population is made

Monaco is one of the few countries in the
world that do not have public debt. The high-tech
industry, tourism, financial services and luxury
goods are the Principality’s main sources of in-
come, and its inhabitants enjoy tax exemption.
